Portfolio Life, with contract at General Mills
Background: I enjoyed a long and successful career working for The Nielsen Company, a leading provider of marketing information, audience measurement, and business media products and services to manufacturers and retailers of Fast Moving Consumer Goods. My last position was as Vice President of a national client facing technology and information client service and consulting organization.
Transition: George Dow and I just clicked. Never pressuring, always intently listening, explaining and coaching, George expertly counseled me on “the art of the possible” of career aspiration and choices. Through a careful and measured process of evaluation and discussion George instilled in me the confidence, the skills and the plan for achieving my next career position.
Today: After three months working with George I entered the brave new world of “independent consultant.” I landed working at General Mills on a six month project leveraging my experience and skills acquired at the Nielsen company. General Mills is a wonderful company, with great products, very smart people and an exciting and stimulating work environment. Now, over three years later, I have steadily continued my engagment at General Mill and am thoroughly enjoying the work and flexibility of being an independent contractor.
